MIGUEL GUEDES

With a Degree in Law by the University of Coimbra, Miguel Guedes is a musician, author, interpreter and vocalist of the Portuguese band Blind Zero.

He is the Portuguese ARM (Artists Rights Management for interpreters and performers) president in Oporto and is the ARM representative at PassMúsica, a Portuguese brand entrusted with the task of billing the public communication of music recorded in Portugal. He forms a commentator’s panel of a Portuguese radio show and a TV show, both about football. Moreover, Miguel Guedes is a judge on the Portuguese TV Show X Factor. Currently, he writes a weekly column for two Portuguese newspapers, but in the past he wrote for three more Portuguese newspapers and magazines. In addition, the multitasker was the associate director of the Portuguese Magazine Cânhamo (Hemp), the first Portuguese magazine about psychotropic substances, and the Coimbra’s Cinema Studies Centre director, having also worked as a director and announcer at the Radio University of Coimbra. Furthermore, Miguel Guedes regularly collaborates with the media as a culture, sports and social sciences column writer and lecturer.

In August of 2014 he was awarded with the City Hall’s Medal of Merit – Golden Level, given by the Oporto’s City Hall to “those who have practiced acts that result in considerable benefits to the city of Oporto, in the improvement of the living conditions of its people, in the art’s progress and diffusion, in the spreading and enrichment of its history, or other acts of notable importance that justify an acknowledgment in the arts, scientific, cultural or professional fields”.
