ANTÓNIO MARTINHO
With a degree in History from Universidade do Porto, postgraduate studies in European Studies at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, and having completed the taught element of the Masters in Public and Municipal Management, at Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, António Martinho has chaired the Executive Board of the Douro Regional Tourism Board since January 2009.
He collaborated from the start with AETUR, the entity that drew up the application for Douro as Marvel of Nature, providing the institutional support essential for its official status. He contributed to the organisation of the Centenary of the Birth of Miguel Torga, also organising conferences on regional development. He was still responsible for the coordination and preface of the book “Comemorações Oficiais dos 250 Anos da Região do Douro”.
He was Civil Governor of the District of Vila Real from April 2005 to January 2009.
