DOMINGOS ALVES DE SOUSA
It´s on the Douro Demarcated Region that Domingos Alves de Sousa gives life to his wines, following a family tradition started by his grandfather and that, nowadays, is also joined by his children.
The old, but always present, desire to find the best expression of a vineyard, demonstrates the will of Alves de Sousa to vinify, exclusively, the grapes from only his vineyards . They are truly unique territories that embrace the stunning diversity of the region’s natural varieties.
The quality and uniqueness of his wines are widely renowned, having won awards and references from the most respected national and international publications. A special mention to the Producer of the Year award, in 1999, and, again, in 2006, by Revista dos Vinhos. Alves de Sousa, became the first to receive, twice, the most important distinction for a producer of wines in Portugal.
By mirroring so magnificently, in the Douro region, the admirable feats that come from the human being effort and dedication, the 6th edition of the Douro Film Harvest pays tribute to the winemaker Domingos Alves de Sousa.
